Prestigious Slow Food Poland certificate
We are genuinely pleased to announce that our “Horyzont” restaurant has been awarded the prestigious Slow Food Poland certificate, confirming that the dishes we serve are of the highest quality. “Horyzont” is one of thirteen restaurants in Poland that use local products from ecological suppliers and compose their menus based on seasonally available products.
Slow Food is an organisation, a social movement and, above all, an approach to food. It brings together those who love and care about the protection of traditional cuisine from different regions of the world and in addition, the preservation of traditional plant cultivation, animal breeding, and farm management techniques.
The organisation was founded in Italy in 1986 as an expression of opposition to the growing popularity of fast food. That year, a McDonald’s was to open in the historic part of Rome, a fact which became
a major motivating factor for the creation of the organisation. Today, Slow Food has a presence in over 50 countries, and comprises 80,000 members. Its guiding principle is the defence of the right to taste.
The certificate has a highly prestigious character due to the scope of required qualifications necessary to receive the honor. The restaurant must also pass a detailed inspection carried out by the organisation’s representatives. For several months, the chef of our “Horyzont” restaurant – Jacek Krakowiak – searched the region selecting local food producers and checking the taste as well as the formation of their products.
At the breakfast, dinner and supper buffets you will find regional products marked with a snail, which is the symbol of Slow Food.
If you should wish to explore the new flavour combinations created by our head chef, we cordially invite you to dine à la carte, for which the entire menu was created in accordance to the principles of Slow Food.
